Daimler Art Collection

The Daimler Collection, in Stuttgart, Sindelfingen, Ulm and Berlin is a treasure trove of hard-edge painting and minimalist tendencies. I "featured" a couple of the collection's artists, Max Bill and John Nixon in recent posts and plan to dig a little deeper into the collection this coming week.

Max Bill: Blur

Max Bill (1908-1994) made paintings and designed watches. An example of "blur," as a friend calls the increasing cross-over, or softening of the line, between art and design.

The goal of concrete art is to develop objects for mental use, the same way people make objects for material use.
– Max Bill, 1947
